I’ve seen enough. Marie Glusenkamp Perez needs to go. We all have to get around one candidate and that must be Brent Hennrich. I know some people are going to bring up Troy Rasband, but there are a few red flags.
When Troy announced he is going to run, he promised a campaign like Kat Abugunzaleh during the Illinois 7th Congressional District race. Kat had plenty of livestreams, a mutual aid hub, the backing of several organizations like Track AIPAC, and a media presence because of her previous work with Media Matters.
I have not seen any of this from Troy. Troy is a DSA member, but did not file for an endorsement from the local chapter, Portland DSA. So he does not have that infrastructure that caused primary victories in New York, Pennsylvania, and Colorado. Not to mention backings from DSA media figures like Hasan Piker. I have read in a Track AIPAC Facebook endorsement post for Brent back in February from Terri that a Progressive was going to enter the race and a MGP Supporter said in a (now deleted) comment that he wanted it to happen because it would split the vote. And that is what is going to happen: the vote will be split and this is exactly what Marie wants. She wants us to remain divided just for us to fall back in line and vote for her in November.
While Troy will gain my support for whatever he does next, but I will be voting for Brent Hennrich this primary because he built a movement around issues all Washingtonians face.
Medicare for All and Green New Deal are all possible, but we all must band together and vote for one candidate. And in my opinion, that is going to be Brent. And for those undecided: Brent is willing to have a conversation with you.
